This hiking trail in Discovery Bay takes you on a pleasant trek halfway up Discovery Bay's highest peak, Lo Fu Tau. Views from the lookout are exceptional as are the views on the descent to Greenfield Court. What more could you ask from such a short hike?

This hiking trail scores 4 stars for enjoyment as it offers some great views of Discovery Bay and consists mainly of dirt trails. Difficulty ranks in at 3 stars as overall height is quite low.
Discovery Bay offers many different hiking trails, many of which you can mix and match different hikes to make each hike unique. It is nice to have the opportunity to walk a different hiking trail every other day rather than sticking to the same thing over and over, making hiking a routine, rather than a joy.
Starting from the rear of the Tennis Courts near the South Plaza, proceed up Discovery Valley Road and take the first set of stairs on the right. Follow the path around this building, cross the road and head up the next set of stairs.

At the top of these stairs, turn right and you will see another set of stairs to the left. I hope you like stairs because there are a lot more to come!

At the top of these stairs, turn left and onto the grassy strip that leads to another set of stairs.

On the odd day you can see all of Hong Kong from here.

At the top of this long set of stair, follow the path around and up to a dirt path.

The dirt path at the top can get quite slippery during humid and wet weather, so mind your step.

When you get to the green rubbish bin, take the (first) right trail up some more stairs.

At the top of this section you will reach Discovery Bay's Lookout point. Proceed through it and follow the concrete path (bypassing the stairs to the right) until you reach a wide clearing to your right. To your right you may experience some great views on a clear day.

Turn right here and follow the path toward the hill ahead. You will see a trail leading up it.

Be sure to keep left here and head up the slope.

Follow the steep, slippery slop up the hill. Turn right at your first opportunity, shown below.

Some great views of the mountains ahead can be had from this vantage point.

On a clear day and with a good eye, or a good zoom, you can see right into Disneyland.

Ahead we pass through some very beautiful rocky sections and a waterfall. Watch your footing.

The descent back to Discovery Bay is very nice, especially on a clear day.

There is only one way from here to the bottom of the hill. Take care through this section, especially down at the bottom near the buildings as the trail gets very steep and often slippery.

When you reach the bottom of the hill, turn right and head up the stairs behind Greenfield Court.

At the top of the stair, jump the railing and head through to the front of the building.

Cross the road to catch a bus to Discovery Bay ferry pier, or turn left to the nearest bus stop for the bus to Tung Chung or Sunny Bay.
