Concreted paths result in a lower enjoyment ranking. Difficulty ranks in at 2 stars as the hiking trail is predominantly flat, apart from the initial ascent.
This trail starts at Cape Collinson Road near Siu Sai Wan on the way to Cape Collinson Correctional Institution.

Take this steep set of stairs to the top. Thankfully this is the only uphill section of the trail with a 100 meter ascent.

At the top of the stairs continue straight ahead and then keep to the right for the following two sections.

On your descent towards Pottinger Gap you will see great views of Shek O, Big Wave Bay and Cape Collinson Correctional Institution, pictured below.

You will see several Black Kite's gliding through the skies.

Shek O can be seen off in the distance to the left.

When you get to the watercatchment, keep to the right wherever possible.

Pictured below is a Ceylon Blue Glassy Tiger (Ideopsis similis) butterfly.

Just past distance post C4201 you may decide to turn left and head down to Big Wave Bay.

Alternatively from this point, you may continue along Hong Kong Trail Stage 8 Reversed or turn right and head down through the cemetary towards Chai Wan MTR.
