This hiking trail gets 5 stars for enjoyment as it is predominantly off paved trails, offers a good range of various terrain and has great views of Lantau South Country Park, Soko Islands, Lantau Peak, Tai O and Shek Pik Reservoir. It earns 4 stars for difficulty as total ascent is about 700 metres. One must also take into consideration that the start of this trail is the end of Lantau Trail Stage 6 Reversed, which adds a further 220 metres to total ascent.

The starting point for Lantau Trail Stage 5 Reversed is Distance Post L050 at the end of Lantau Trail Stage 6 Reversed. At the beginning of this trail there is a lovely private residence to the left.

Continue straight ahead along the paved trail, passing Man Cheung Po Camp Site.

When the paved trail takes a sharp left, turn right heading onto a dirt track towards Ling Wui Shan.

After Distance Post L048, when you reach the point below just after the bridge which crosses a stream, be sure to continue straight ahead and up the stairs.

Up in the hills to the left you can see the Flying Dragon near the Tsz Hing Monastery near Distance Post L047.

There are a lot of worms along this section of the trail. Today a lot of them were dead as the temperature was quite high and the sun was shining.

When you get to the park below, turn left and head through it, past the pergola.

Welcome to the end of Lantau Trail Stage 5 Reversed! From here you may catch the number 11 bus to Tung Chung or continue onto Lantau Trail Stage 4 Reversed which will take you through Ngong Ping Village where you could jump on the cable car down to Tung Chung.
