Hong Kong Crabs

Red Clawed Crab (Parasesarma bidens):

These crabs usually spend most of their time submerged in brackish water. The area where this crab was photographed is a perfect environment, near the Tung Chung Outdoor Recreation Camp.

The body diameter is about 2-4cm and the body color ranges from dark red to reddish brown except for it's front claws which are bright red in color.

Fiddler Crab (Uca lactea):

These crabs are found on the higher shoreline and dig burrows into the sand up to 50cm deep. The crab below was spotted in Tai O near the local fishing village.
